This poised, longiligne Merlot (100%) is a triumph. The nose is subtle at present, with black fruit to the fore and a crushed stone element that resonates to end of the long, long finish. Matthew’s decision to raise a proportion of the wine in amphorae has no doubt contributed to the finesse of the tannins. Like the PVD, we’ll follow its progress with the greatest interest.
