2021 Zotovich Pinot Noir, Chanin

Gavin rather loves this windswept vineyard that is owned by someone he describes as ‘an amateur farmer’, which has resulted in very natural farming with no spraying. They are the only young vines that Gavin works with. He made it once in 2013 and again in 2019, 2020 and now 2021. He feels the vines are now old enough to commit to a three year contract. The 2021 has a very delicate pale colour with an immediate sweet red fruit that entices you in, but if you give it time, there’s plenty of asian spice and succulent herbal notes. It is playful, yet lifted and fresh. It makes sense when Gavin describes it as ‘our most delicious wine. We pour it for people who are novices to wine as well as serious collectors’.
