The wines of Castell’in Villa undergo longer maturation (in cask) than most Chianti Classico, so – while they age brilliantly – they’re sleek, harmonious and ready to drink on release. The 2019 is one of the finest examples we’ve tasted from this acclaimed estate. It’s characterised by black cherry and plum aromas, with hints of sweet and dried spice. The palate is succulent and giving, but with ample concentration and acidity to improve over the coming five years.
