2015 Pommard 1er Cru Arvelets
Mark tends to make a Pommard with style and class, and, with 50% new oak used in 2015, there’s an added seductiveness to the wine. Good complexity with plenty of personality. Black fruited plus an earthy spiciness to the finish. Drink from 2019.
`The 2015 Pommard 1er Cru Clos des Arvelets, which contains 10% whole bunch (although I could not tell at all) and 50% new wood, has a very expressive bouquet with bright red cherry and cranberry leaf notes, some lovely undergrowth scents developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannin, quite fleshy for a Pommard with fine balance towards the finish. I expect this to land at the top of my banded score.` 89-91 points, Neal Martin, robertparker.com
