2014 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Chambertin’s apart in 2000 this Charmes has become more charming and more dainty with every passing year. It’s as if it’s now been given the freedom to really express itself. The 2007 is gorgeous right now, so pretty, but this will be so much better in time. An exciting prospect indeed. Drink from 2022.
`Here the pretty, fresh and even airy nose is distinctly floral in character with lovely notes of mostly red currant, earth and soft underbrush nuances. There is good richness to the round and solidly well-concentrated flavors that culminate in a dusty, palate coating and beautifully long finish. This isn`t as structured as the Mazoyères but will certainly require at last 7 to 8 years of restraint.` 91/100 points, Allen Meadows, burghound.com, drink from 2026
