With this Pinot, Anthill Farms look to create a food-friendly, nuanced wine that represents the unique character of the Anderson Valley. Somewhat remote from most of Northern California’s wine-growing districts, this valley shelters a surprisingly harmonious blend of the wild and the civilized. in one vista, one can see sheep ranches, redwood groves, apple orchards, and impenetrable oak scrub.

"The 2016 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) is endowed with terrific depth in this vintage. Beautifully expressive and resonant, the 2016 offers notable richness in its succulent red cherry, plum and spice nuances. This open-knit, juicy Pinot will drink well with minimal cellaring. This is a fabulous appellation-level Pinot. -- Antonio Galloni 92 "

"The 2016 Pinot Noir Tina Marie Vineyard is a wine of subtlety and finesse. Lifted and understated, the Tina Marie is beautifully persistent on the palate, with pretty floral and savory notes that give the wine its aromatic top notes. Bright red cherry, plum and rose petal linger in this mid-weight, tightly wound wine. -- Antonio Galloni 91"

"The 2016 Pinot Noir Campbell Ranch Vineyard opens with a serious burst of fruit. There is terrific depth and intensity, but today the oak is showing a bit more prominently than is typically the case with the Anthill Pinots. The 33% whole clusters are not at all evident. The Campbell Ranch has quite a bit of potential. -- Antonio Galloni 93+"

  • "The 2016 Pinot Noir Abbey Harris Vineyard is one of the most powerful and tightly wound wines in the range. Layers of fruit are wrapped around a spine of tannin in this hugely promising Pinot. Even though the wine is still recovering from its recent bottling, there is more than enough complexity to make me think all it needs is time. -- Antonio Galloni 93+ "

"The 2016 Pinot Noir Peters Vineyard is a powerful, brooding wine. Crushed flowers, tobacco and earthy notes give the Peters a distinctly dark feel. In this tasting, the Peters is decidedly reticent and tightly wound. -- Antonio Galloni 91+"

The hallmark of this wine is the spicy, smoky quality that underpins the dark fruit character. Concentrated and with great tension, this is delicious now due to its ripe fruit and balance but could have a long future ahead of it if it is allowed to. In 2000 16 acres of Pinot Noir were densely planted to protect the vines from the ocean winds and to provide heat from the soil. Duvarita starts at around 180 feet, rising to 370 feet and it is farmed bio-dynamically. (Drink from now)

The 2013 is a delicious and serious wine, racy and focussed, with sublime balance and length. This is high-class juice in every respect, packed with bright citrus flavours, subtle stone fruit and full of mineral complexities, possibly outshining any other Californian white we`ve tried (that has even been close to this price point). The impressive phenolics give a breadth and texture that you simply don`t see from other winemakers and there`s a chalkiness and tang to the wine that is reminiscent of Grand Cru Chablis. It`s almost impossible to resist now, but will only get better and better and we wouldn`t hesitate to cellar for up to 5-8 years (or beyond!). Just gorgeous!

  • The 2016 Pinot Noir (Santa Barbara County) is an addition to Gavin Chanin`s range. Sweet red cherry and floral notes are nicely pushed forward in this tasty, appellation-level Pinot. Drink it over the next few years. -- Antonio Galloni, 90 points, Vinous.

Chanin`s 2016 Chardonnay Los Alamos Vineyard opens in the glass with a youthfully reserved nose of buttered citrus, apples, flowers and fresh nuts. On the palate, the wine is glossy, rich and quite lees influenced, with good concentration and depth and a moderately long finish. - William Kelley 91

Translucent pale ruby in hue, the 2016 Pinot Noir Los Alamos Vineyard offers up an earthy bouquet of beetroot, spice, citrus rind and cola. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, supple and open-knit, albeit a little ephemeral, with melting tannins and juicy acids. This is structured for near-term consumption. William Kelley 89

We bring together sites from the northwest end of the Anderson Valley to create the Fog-Eater. This vintage has a savory expression with deeper fruit tones and more tannin structure. This wine was made to embody a heightened level of complexity, roundness and richness. A classic representation of Anderson Valley is the result.

  • "The 2016 Syrah Perli Vineyard is simply gorgeous. Rich, powerful and unctuous, with striking fruit density, the 2016 packs a serious punch. Blackberry jam, game, licorice, cloves and new leather infuse this sumptuous yet structured, savory, cool-climate Syrah. The 40% whole clusters add dimension but are also impeccably balanced. What a pretty and distinctive wine this is. Vinous: 94pts"

Another brilliant wine in this range, the 2016 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard is superb. Dense, powerful and beautifully layered, the 2016 exudes richness in all of its dimensions. There is plenty of Hudson textural resonance, but the 2016 is at the same time quite polished and refined. I very much admire the sense of balance. 94 points Galloni

  • The 2016 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) is laced with the essence of blood orange, bright red fruit, mint and white pepper. Medium in body, gracious and lifted, the Sonoma Coast Pinot has so much to offer. Year in, year out, Failla`s Sonoma Coast Pinot is one of the very best wines in its price range. Don`t miss it. 90 points Galloni

  • The 2016 Pinot Noir Keefer Ranch is powerful and dense. Succulent dark cherry, plum, licorice, smoke, leather and game run through this mid-weight, somewhat rustic Pinot. It will be interesting to see if time softens some of the angular edges that are present today. Today, the Keefer is a wine of density and gravitas. 92 points Galloni

  • The 2016 Chardonnay Haynes Vineyard, from a site in Coombsville planted in 1964 on St. George rootstock, stands out for its translucence and class. Weightless and yet phenolic in feel, the Haynes is a wine of total distinction. A host of savory and mineral inflections give the Haynes its flavor signatures, but above all else, this is a Chardonnay of structure. 94 points Galloni
