From the biodynamic-certified Domaine Sérol in the Côte Roannaise, some 60 miles north-west of Lyon, this is a really exciting and unusual wine – certainly the only sparkling Gamay (so far!) in Stannary’s portfolio. That said, there’s a long history of producing Méthode Ancéstrale wines in these parts, just as there is in Bugey (the other side of Lyon). The nose is quintessential Gamay, bursting with red summer fruit and flowers. The 2022 is off-dry, with 9g/L residual sugar – far less than Moscato d’Asti, to which Turbullent makes a great alternative.
