2022 Crozes-Hermitage ‘Accroche-Coeur’, Domaine Pierre Jean Villa
The soil in Crozes is more alluvial than elsewhere in the northern Rhône, with a preponderance of the smooth galets roulés one might associate with Châteauneuf, much further south. Accroche-Cœur, as a result, is a juicy, fruit-forward Syrah that can be enjoyed on release. Bursting with ripe red and black fruit, the ’22 also has an enticing spicy, gamey element.
