This chalky Grosse Lage vineyard has excelled in 2022, yielding a wine that’s poised, fresh and saline but with an impressive weight of ripe fruit. The Uhlen wines now get a second winter on their lees in cask prior to bottling, hence today’s release of the 2021. The upshot, Reinhard explains, should be even greater longevity and – with time in the bottle – complexity.
