Domaine Jean-Marc Pillot

Jean-Marc is part of the posse who enjoy space and comfort in the evolving cuverie village just outside the centre of Chassagne (along with Pierre-Yves Colin Morey, Philippe Colin and Michel Niellon). Although he has been in charge of the family domaine since 1991 he has never been making such good wines as he is now. The wines spend around 12 months in about 30% new oak before a further 6 months in steel, whence they gain in precision and drive. Over the past few vintages this has become a real source of top Chassagnes. We have been so impressed we have expanded the the number of wines we buy, although the frost of 2016 did not help our cause! Caillerets and Baudines are both from rocky terrain nearer the top of the slope, especially the latter, whilst the Montagny is notable for its 100 year old vines. We have added the 2 village wines, which are both drinking delightfully already.
