Domaine Buisson-Charles

This small domaine, run by Michel Buisson’s daughter Catherine and her husband, Patrick Essa, has received some great press from the likes of Allen Meadows (aka Burghound) over the years. Two thirds of its vineyards are in Meursault, either at village or 1er Cru level, where they have some excellent holdings. The wines tend to see about between 20 and 40% new oak, depending on the level of the Cru and the style of the vintage. Patrick also makes a few reds but the emphasis is very much on the white wines. Patrick has also supplemented the range with a couple of fruit purchases from close friends and both the Chassagnes are just such purchases where Patrick has made just a barrel or two.
