Domaine Agnès Paquet
Agnès Paquet began making wine when her family were threatening to sell some vineyards they owned in Auxey Duresses. She jumped in and has never looked back. Gradually she has increased her holdings through various purchases over the years including vineyards in St Aubin and Chassagne Montrachet and her recently renovated cellars are immaculate. Stylisically her wines are very elegant with an emphasis put on the minerality and refinement of the wines. New oak is used sparingly and the wines are bottled unrefined and unfiltered. As was the case for so many vignerons in 2016 Agnès lost huge amounts of fruit due to frost so we will be shipping the 2017s as early as possible! Thankfully, they are very good!

Awaiting Tasting Note
The vines here are 95 years old and on very stony soil. The wine saw 15% new oak which just adds some texture and spice but basically the wine is beautifully clean, pure and lively; just what a serious Auxey Blanc should be.
This is basically the same juice but with a contrasting élévage, spending an extr a2/3 months is large barrels before being transferred to stainless steel tanks for a further 4 months. Consequently, the wine is richer and rounder but bit at all heavy and the stony minerality still fights its corner, adding drive and vitality.
Agnès used 25% whole bunch for this wine which added both structure and freshness. Red fruit dominated with crunchy, yet earthy and spicy undertones. Very attractive and will be a perfect lunchtime Burgundy.
