Château Civrac

The 18th century Château was bought by Cornishman Mark Hellyar in 2006. It is located on the right bank of Bordeaux within the Côtes de Bourg appellation. The area is a hilly, Roman influenced, almost Tuscan looking region. Civrac lies 5 minutes from Bourg in the surrounding rolling hills. Next to the classic Bordeaux grape varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot the plantings of the Château include a high percentage of Malbec. The wine is made with minimal intervention in the winery and a lot of effort is put into the work in the vineyard to get perfect grape material. Stylistically the wines are fruit driven but balanced and great fun to drink.
