Champagne Paul Bara

The history of the Bara family working in Champagne can be traced back to 1600 but the house as we know it today was born in Bouzy, the renowned Grand Cru village in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, in 1833. Paul’s daughter, Chantale, is the 7th generation to run the 11 hectare family estate. Bouzy is famed for its Pinot Noir so it comes as no suprise that the cuvées made here focus on this variety. The Brut Réserve is a blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay. The Rosé is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir, 12% Bouzy Rouge and 18% Chardonnay, whilst the Grand Millésime is 90% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay. Lilkewise the special cuvées, made only in great years and in small volumes, are dominated by Pinot Noir. Stylistically the wines have a richness of fruit combined with a wonderful vibrancy and punctuation.
