Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Les Aventures
Les Aventures takes its name from one small parcel in Chouilly which has a particularly chalky soil. The blend is made from wines from the best vintages which have complimentary characteristics. The bottles are aged in the Lenoble chalk cellars before release but the wine will continue to improve for many years. Bottling is done by hand using the traditional stapled corks and each bottle has been numbered for identification. Riddling and disgorging are also done by hand. The second fermentation is allowed to occur under cork, creating a complex, oxidative character. Cepage . Chardonnay 100 % Dosage . 3 g/l Cru . Chardonnay
`The NV Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Les Aventures is made in a richer, more oxidative style than some of the wines in this lineup. The Aventures is a rich, weighty wine that continues to gain depth and volume in the glass. The aromatics show the early signs of evolution making this a delicious, complex wine to drink now and over the next 6-8 years, give or take. Considering its body, the Aventures is probably best enjoyed at the dinner table.` 91 points, Antonio Galloni, vinous.vom `Light yellow-gold. Powerful aromas of nectarine, poached pear and lemon curd, with suave vanilla, butter and floral accents. Deeply pitched orchard and pit fruit flavors are given spine by tangy acidity and pick up spiciness and chalky minerality with air. Powerful yet lithe and precise, finishing with excellent clarity, length and lingering vanilla and brioche notes.` 93 points, Josh Raynolds, vinous.com
"The wines of Chouilly are marked by a broad build and creamy richness. Tempered by the Marne River to the North, the microclimate of Chouilly is also warmer, making it a departure from other villages in the Côte des Blancs. As a consequence, the chardonnay from this village can yield expansive and voluptious wines with forward ripeness and soft structure. Les Aventures is a superb expression of Chouilly, balancing creamy richness with soil-driven complexity." – Peter Liem
`Blended only from seasons released as vintages in their own right, the philosophy of `The Adventures of Lenoble` is to showcase what a small terroir in Chouilly can produce in top years. Never has it looked finer, and this blend has softened and toned magnificently over quite some years since its release, exemplified by long age on tirage under cork; its tense, coiled acidity still well defined, though now calm and integrated, and the classic yellow fruits of Chouilly now further progressed on their journey towards toast, roast nuts, gren olives and coffee beans. Wood works remains pronounced, in notes of savoury, spicy charcuterie complexity and a creamy texture of gentle phenolic grip, yet it preserves the salty chalk mineral texture of Chouilly and upholds its poise, enduring persistence and characterful definition. This is a powerful and formidable experience for the adventurous, promising a journey that will linger for some years yet.` 93 pts, Tyson Stelzer`s Champagne Guide 2018-2019
"Very rich with masses of evolution on the nose. Real density and evolution. Bone-dry finish but the richness of fruit makes up for this. Persistent." 17.5 points, Jancis Robinson, 21 June 2018.
