2016 Pommard 1er Cru Rugiens
- Wine colour
- France > Burgundy > Côte de Beaune
- Domaine Heitz Lochardet
This is very serious and altogether more pwerful. It has a really lovely texture and despite the power great finesse. It is glossy and polished with fine earthy fruit flavours, great energy and freshness and a lively, savoury finish. Top job.
`The Pommard Rugiens is a step up in intensity and quality – a lovely wine in the making – cooler than the 2015 but perhaps lacking a bit of the lavish fruit of this vintage. The nose offer lovely red and darker berries – juicy and quite floral – notes of rose petal and cinnamon – and with a nice hint of the mighty Rugiens minerality. On the palate intense, quite rich and rather long. I do like the elegant and silky whole cluster fruit. Matching the 2015? – perhaps if one prefer the cooler and slightly more structured style of the 2016 vintage – but given time I think the decadent 2015 will prevail. (Drink from 2028) – Very Fine+ – (93 – 94p) – Tasted from bottle 25/10/2017.` Steen Öhman, Winehog.
