`At first I was tempted to add this to our other Swiss wines in quite another assemblage but then remembered that it is technically Italian even if it comes from subalpine vineyards. It is absolutely nothing like any other Pinot Noir I can think of. Pale cherry red, it was obviously ripened in a fair bit of sunshine - very slightly dry in the sense of thick skins - but has excellent acidity and real grip on the palate. There`s a pleasing purity to it as well as a sweetness that is on the right side of syrupy. It is not overpriced. `A paleish pinky red in colour, this distinctive red from the Italian Alps, bordering France and Switzerland, shows an immediate raspberryish fragrance which is repeated on the palate with a satisfyingly bright, refreshingly pure and succulent mulberryish fruit quality that says more about drinkability than complexity.
