2014 Heintz Vineyard Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
On the nose this shows ripe red apple fruit along with orchard blossom and citrus aromas as well as a saline wet stone minerality. The palate is much tarter than the nose suggests with fresh yellow apple flavours, grapefruit and orange juice. The wine has a precise acidity, subtle toasty flavours of vanilla and cinnamon from oak barrels and has a medium plus length. Drink from 2017.
` Creamy and rich nose with a very dense, layered, pithy fruit character on the palate. Zesty and fragrant, with incredible intensity. ` - 17.5 points, Richard Hemming MW - www.jancisrobinson.com
`Started in 2002 by Jason Kesner, formerly a winemaker at Kistler vineyards, fruit quality and non-intervention is his focus in wine. Long ageing in barrique with gentle batonnage gives weight to aromatic stone fruit and orange rind, balanced with nervous saline acidity. Creamy vanilla finish. Drink 2018-2026.` 92 points, Ronan Sayburn MS, Decanter, Sept 2018
`Apple pie and honey on the nose. A fine line of acidity runs right through the rich palate of peach and passion fruit, subtle cinnamon spiced oak and the creaminess of the long finish. Drink 2019-2023.` 90 points, Stephen Brook - Alex Hunt MW - Tim Jackson MW, Decanter, June 2019
