Vintage:
2008
Producer:
AR Lenoble
Tasting Notes:

2008 was an exceptional vintage in Champagne but it is one for the cellar. Made exclusively from Grand Cru grapes from Chouilly. This has great depth, power and energy and is a very exciting prospect for the future. The wines were tasted by the Flint/Stannary team without knowing the price and this was the one that we were furthest away from in our guesses. A strong recommendation for your cellar. Cepage . Chardonnay 100 % Dosage . 5 g/l Cru . Chouilly

Press Reviews:

`The tension and definition of the energetic 2008 vintage is endearing in the opulent village of Chouilly, and Malassagne has sensitively matched the elegance of the vintage with a subtle 10% oak vinification and a very little dosage. Youthful lemon, pear and apple fruit of impressive poise and proportion is propelled by a wonderful line of glistening 2008 acidity and frothing salt minderal texture, elongating a finish of magnificent line and persistence. Oak lends an appealing, almost invisible note of vanilla and almond. A masterful and age-worthy contrast between the rounded intensity of Chouilly and the vivacious drive of a terrific season.` 95 points, Tyson Stelzer`s Champagne Guide 2016-2017

`Poise and floral elegance married with grip and lift. Comforting richness and well blanced fruit. Drink 2018-2030.` 90 pts (Simon Field MW 90pts, Xavier Rousset MS 90pts), January 2018, decanter.com

`From an exceptional vintage, what strikes one first is the statuesque structure of the wine. But the strong acidity of 2008 is well controlled and integrated; already the flavors have a light-footed harmony in tune with substance and complexity. The fruit profile at 10 years of age is strength with elegance, fresh citrus variegated with tomes of white peach, even a touch of apricot confit. Great length on the immaculate persistence. As good as it gets. For great fish, seabass and turbot. Should continue to improve to 2028, but already: 95 points.` Michael Edwards, The World of Fine Wine, December 2018

`One of the `Best Blanc de Blancs Champagnes of the Year`. The tension and definition of the energetic 2008 vintage is endearing in the opulent village of Chouilly, and Malassagne has sensitively matched the elegance of the vintage with a subtle 10% oak vinification and a very light dosage. Good gracious, such is the stamina of the season that this cuvée has not Evolved one iota since its release two years ago, upholding youthful lemon, pear and apple fruit of impressive poise and proportion amidst notes of lemon meringue. It`s propelled by a wonderful line of glistening 2008 acidity and pronounced, frothing salt mineral texture, elongating a finish of magnificent line and persistence. Oak lends an appealing, almost invisible note of vanilla and almond. A masterful and age-worthy contrast between the rounded intensity of Chouilly and the vivacious drive of a terrific season.` 95 points, Tyson Stelzer, 2018-2019 edition of The Champagne Guide
