2001 Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru

Wine colour
France > Burgundy > Côte de Nuits
Domaine Taupenot-Merme
Tasting Notes:

2001 is such a nice vintage, especially for the better 1ers Crus and Grands Crus, which are really very close to the 2002s qualitatively. They are wonderfully fresh and pure with a sense of transparency and cool. This is beginning to drink very nicely and shows excellent elegance and bite. Drink from 2015

Press Reviews:

`Cask sample. Very rich and seductive on the eye and nose. Pretty impressive. Full and satiny and lots of sweetness. Chewy end. ` 17/20, Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com, January 2003 `Beautifully elegant, rather earthy Gevrey fruit with structured, very sappy flavors supported by firm, mouth coating tannins and a relatively fine, impressively complex finish. This is quite intense with bright finishing acidity and a much better sense of individuality.` 89 points, Burghound, January 2004
“An elegant, fresh and admirably pure nose is notably more expressive with its array of red currant, warm earth and anise-tinged aromas. There is even better richness to the round, supple and punchy medium-bodied flavors that terminate with notes of bitter cherry and a hint of warmth. This is lovely and very Charmes. 91-94pts” Burghound
Neal Martin - 93-95pts. Tim Atkin MW 96 pts.
