2018 Merlot, Le Due Terre
Merlot is quite at home here in Friuli. Harvested a couple of weeks after the Pinot, the grapes are vinified in concrete for less edgy tannins. Again raised in neutral oak, Le Due Terre’s 2018 Merlot is sublime; instantly expressive, with aromas of plum, cocoa and lavender. Juicy and giving on the palate but that characteristic acidity and grip provide focus.
