Prosecco’s revival over the past 10 years is well documented. Since 2010, demand for the fresh, youthful, fruit-forward fizz, made from the Glera grape, has skyrocketed, such that it eclipsed Champagne sales for the first time in 2016. In fact, the comparison with Champagne is key. Many agree that a well-made Prosecco is far more enjoyable that numerous Champagnes at the cheaper end of the market. An attractive price point combined with restrained alcohol (not exceeding 11%) and lower acidity levels makes Prosecco a dependable and smart selection for a home sparkling.
The Borgoluce estate is located among the vertiginous vineyards of Conegliano Valdobbiadene, close to the San Salvatore Castle and the Duomo di Conegliano. This impressive estate, renowned for its eco-sustainable efforts and aversion to pesticides is home to the Collalto family, who have lived here for over 1,000 years. Nature co-exists with farming practices and the south-facing vineyards are interspersed with forests on the northern slopes with meadows and fields in between where cattle graze freely.
While Prosecco may not compete with the better Champagnes, it will bring some much-needed frivolity and joy at a fraction of the price and we are delighted to bring you Borgoluce’s finest traditional styled Prosecco.
The Lampo prosecco is made entirely from Glera, preserving the delicate fruit aromas through the Charmat method. Italy expert Kerin O’Keefe wrote ‘This soft sparkler offers sensations of green apple, white peach and a hint of lemon drop. Bright acidity gives it a refreshing finish’ and Ian d’Agata writes ‘Orange blossoms and nectarine on the fresh nose. Easy going and soft, with juicy yellow peach and apricot flavors that are nicely persistent.’
