Join us for an interactive tasting hosted by Tom Gerrie, 2nd generation owner of Cristom Vineyards.
Cristom was founded in 1992 by Paul Gerrie and his wife Eileen and named after their two sons; Chris and Tom. Located in the Willamette Valley, there is a heavy Burgundian influence. Head winemaker Steve Doerner, who has been with Cristom since their first vintage, had previously worked with Jacques Seysses at Domaine Dujac. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that he uses a high percentage of stems, which contributes to the ethereal perfumed style of the wines. The vineyards are farmed biodynamically, and the wines are made in a Burgundian style without filtration, fining with egg-whites and working with natural yeasts. All this helps to preserve the natural energy of the wines. Oregon’s hilly topography combined with its cool climate provides a natural habitat to producing outstanding Pinot Noir. Each Pinot vineyard is located on volcanic soils and range between 220-700 feet in altitude. Each of the single vineyards are named after family members, and within the Stannary team, there is no consensus as to our favourite single vineyard wine.
